Submission Guidelines For Journal

For Journal

The CARCIL’s Journal accepts and reviews submissions when a call for papers is made. We attempt to review and process long articles/essays/ case/legislative comments/book reviews within 8-10 weeks of submission. Please follow up with us, if you have not heard from us within 10 weeks.

Categories

  • Long Form Articles (6,000 – 10,000 words): Submissions in this category are expected to engage with the topic, its theme, and available literature comprehensively so as to offer a novel and original reassessment.
  • Essays (4,000 – 6,000 words): Submissions in this category are comparatively more concise and limited in their scope. Essays usually deal with a very specific topic as compared to Long Form Articles.
  • Case/Legislative Comments (1,500 – 3,000 words): Submissions in this category are expected to critically analyse a recent judicial/quasi-judicial decision or legislative/policy proposal, either in India or abroad, and comment on its implications.
  • Book Reviews (2,000 – 3,000 words): Submissions in this category are expected to critically analyse and engage with a recent academic book that falls under our mandate.

Note: These word limits are merely indicative and we retain a reasonable level of flexibility in this regard. Further, these word limits are exclusive of footnotes.

Please also note that:

  • All submissions must include an abstract of not more than 300 words, explaining the main idea, the objective of the article and the conclusions drawn from it.
  • The manuscript should be on A4-sized paper, in Garamond, font size 12, 1.15 line Spacing, justified and 1-inch margins on each side. Footnotes should be in Garamond, font size 10 and with single linespacing.
  • The Authors must conform to the Bluebook (20th edition) Uniform System of Citation.
  • The Manuscript should not contain any identification of the author/s, which shall be a ground for rejection of the submission. Authors should provide their contact details, designation, institutional affiliation and address in the covering letter for the submission.
    • The submission must be the original work of the authors. Any form of plagiarism will lead to direct rejection.
    • The relevant sources should be duly acknowledged as footnotes. The decision of the Editorial Board in this regard shall be final.

 

FORMATTING GUIDELINES

The following guidelines shall be adhered to while making submissions:

  1. All submissions must be original, unpublished, and free from plagiarism. The permissible similarity index shall not exceed 10%. The use of AI-generated content must also remain within a permissible limit of 10%.
  2. Manuscripts shall be accepted in English only and must be submitted in .doc or .docx format.
  3. The title of the manuscript must clearly reflect the theme, scope, and essence of the submission.
  4. Every submission must be accompanied by an abstract of 250–300 words highlighting the novelty, relevance, and contribution of the manuscript.
  5. The main body of the manuscript shall be in Times New Roman, font size 12, with 1.5 line spacing and justified alignment.
  6. Footnotes shall be in Times New Roman, font size 10, with single line spacing. Citations must conform to OSCOLA (4th Edition).
  7. Citations shall be provided only through footnotes. Excessive speaking footnotes are discouraged. Footnotes shall be excluded from the prescribed word limit.
  8. Co-authorship of a maximum of two authors is permitted.
  9. To ensure a fair double-blind review process, the manuscript must not contain any identifying details of the author(s), including names, institutional affiliations, acknowledgements, or any other reference revealing authorship.
  10. Submissions must not be simultaneously under consideration by any other journal, blog, or publication at the time of submission or during the review process.
  11. The Editorial Board reserves the right to suggest substantive, editorial, or stylistic changes to the manuscript, which shall be duly incorporated by the author(s), wherever required.

 

REVIEW PROCESS

The Editorial Board endeavours to review manuscripts expeditiously and communicate a preliminary decision within four weeks from the date of submission.

Authors are requested to refrain from enquiring about the status of their manuscript before the expiry of the aforementioned period.

Preliminary acceptance of a manuscript shall not be construed as final acceptance for publication. The final decision regarding publication shall remain subject to the successful incorporation of suggested revisions and the outcome of the peer review process.

 

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

  1. Manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the designated Google Form. Submissions made through any other mode shall not be entertained.
  2. Each author shall be permitted to submit only one manuscript.
  3. The manuscript must be submitted in .doc or .docx format along with a duly signed Certificate of Originality and Copyright Declaration in the prescribed format. (Link for the Certificate- https://drive.google.com/drive/u/4/folders/1iYmPJK3xZrFQj3uxtfWM0SlP55-k-hDo)
  4. Upon successful submission, the author(s) shall receive an acknowledgement email along with a unique manuscript code. Authors are requested to quote the manuscript code in all future correspondence.

 

WITHDRAWAL POLICY

If the author(s) wish to withdraw their manuscript from consideration, they may send an email to carcil.editorial@gmail.com with the subject line:

“Withdrawal of Manuscript: [Manuscript Code]”

The decision regarding withdrawal shall rest solely with the Editorial Board.
